Chamomile-Flowers

When you’re looking for chamomile essential oil, you’ll find several varieties: Chamomile Roman, Chamomile German and Chamomile English.

Chamomile has a lovely scent, like apples, and is wonderful for treating inflamed, itchy skin.

It’s also a very relaxing essential oil. A couple of drops on a tissue and tucked into a pillow will calm even the most active child when it’s bedtime.

If you suffer from insomnia, a chamomile massage about half an hour before bedtime will put you to sleep within moments of your head hitting the pillow.

Some migraine sufferers also find the herb calming - when you feel a migraine coming on, have a massage with chamomile, or a bath with a few drops of chamomile added, and you’ll drop off to sleep. When you wake, you may find that the migraine is gone.

Chamomile for stress

If you’re looking for a stress reliever, a couple of drops of chamomile with a drop or two of lavender in a warm bath will help you to de-stress.

Other uses for chamomile include pain relief for arthritis, and for RSI (repetitive strain injury.)

Of the three chamomile varieties, Chamomile English has the most sedative action, so it’s especially good for insomnia.
