Aromatherapy products for every need
August 8th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedAlthough essential oils have been popular for decades among alternative health and complementary medicine enthusiasts, the past decade has seen an explosion of aromatherapy and essential oil products.
Many people buy an essential oil product out of curiosity - or are given a product as a gift - and then are amazed at the effect the product has.
You can find products to heal (essential oil blends to relieve the pain of arthritis and other chronic illnesses), as well as products to change your mood - to relieve stress, and insomnia.
To fragrance your home, essential oils have been formulated into sticks, and blocks, of incense that many people burn throughout the course of the day to try and lower their stress level and create a mood.
A newer entry into the aromatherapy products that burn category is aromatherapy candles. There is still some debate among therapists as to the effectiveness of candles because candles, through their creation process, mix the essential oils with wax and other compounds and this dilutes the oil. But candles are fast becoming a very popular aromatherapy product and are also being used by some therapists in their treatments.
If you want a more pure essential oil experience then you need to get an aromatherapy diffuser.
A diffuser takes the pure essential oil and turns it into a scented vapor that can be distributed in a designated area. There are diffusers small enough to use in a car and there are diffusers big enough to cover an entire room. Whatever your need, the diffuser is a great way to get the most from your aromatherapy essential oils.

Hand essential oil - a formula for beauty and another for pain relief
June 2nd, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedUse Unscented Lotion for a luxury hand beauty recipe
This hand essential oil recipe requires eight ounces of unscented lotion, which can be sourced from a number of sellers who deal in natural products. Add two drops of patchouli, two drops of sandalwood and four drops of carrot seed oils. Shake well, and you’re done.
You can also blend the recipe by pouring the lotion into a bowl, adding the oils and mixing. after the mixing stage, you may want to add the lotion back to the bottle. For dry skin, use of patchouli, sandalwood as well as carrot seeds are especially helpful. Patchouli and sandalwood oils have a great, long lasting fragrance.
if you want still more help for your skin you can use borage and evening primrose, which should be added in small quantities.
How many drops to how much lotion?
For reference, use the formula of one teaspoon of lotion to one drop of essential oil, or one drop to each ml, or one drop per ounce. Remember that less is usually better - think homeopathic.
Using a new-to-you essential oil? Perform a skin-patch test first. Dilute a drop of the oil in a teaspoon of carrier oil, and apply it to your arm. If your arm reddens, don’t use the oil - you’re sensitive to it.
Hand essential oils for pain relief
If you have tendonitis or RSI, here’s my own essential oil recipe for pain relief:
Hand essential oil pain relief formula
To 35 mls carrier oil (macadamia is luxurious, so is grapeseed) add:
Juniper 2 drops
Chamomile 5 drops
Cypress 5 drops
Ginger 2 drops
Helichrysum italicum 5 drops
Shake well to disperse the oil in the carrier, use as needed for pain relief.
This works great for tendonitis - I’ve found that elbow and wrist tendonitis pain is relieved within a day.
