Wondering what perfume the queen of the Nile wore?

Beauty Queen: What perfume did Cleopatra dab behind her ears to impress Mark Antony and Caesar? - Healthy Living, Health & Wellbeing - The Independent reports:

“Nenúfar, billed as ‘The Sacred Scent of Cleopatra’, evokes the fragrance of the blue lotus, which was sacred to the Pharoahs, frequently depicted on tomb walls, and had hallucinogenic properties. Pybus captured its scent using a technique called ‘headspace’ whereby you place a big glass jar over a plant, suck out the surrounding air, then use a machine to identify its components. The result is a sweet, watery floral. He says that the perfume ‘is as near as we can get to the aromatic experience of the ancients’; the scent Ankh must be even more authentic, taking its make up from a temple inscription.”

Perfume: buying your own signature fragrance

Looking for just the right perfume for you?

Lots of things have a bearing on how any particular perfume will smell on you. Your diet, body temperature, skin chemistry and natural aroma will determine how a perfume will smell when you wear it. Therefore a fragrance that smells great on your friend could quite easily make people mistake you for a cat’s litter box, so never buy anything just because it happens to suit someone else.

There are two ways to determine whether a fragrance will suit your or not. You can find out if a perfume smells nice on you by trying it, and this is the only way to determine what suits you if you have only just begun to experiment with fragrances.

However, once you have been wearing perfume for a number of years you will start to develop an idea of which fragrance notes smell good on you, and which do not.

Fragrance notes are what make each perfume smell unique. Every fragrance is composed of top, middle and base notes. Top notes generally have a well-defined aroma and they are what you smell when you initially apply a perfume to your skin. Middle notes have a more delicate smell and you will start to perceive them after the top notes begin to evaporate. Base notes have lush, resonant aroma and they last longer. The middle and base notes of a perfume form its core.

Finding your signature perfume is analogous with choosing the right romantic partner in that it often takes time and experience and it isn‘t something that can be rushed.

If you want to find your perfume then you must forget about the latest trends and fashions. Instead try various discount perfumes or trial size bottles until you eventually find the one that suits you best. Once you have found the one for you, you’ll know it because your smell will be so enticing that people will ask you what you are wearing.

Finding your signature perfume can require a lot of effort, but once you do it will make you feel attractive and boost your self-esteem so it is definitely a worthwhile endeavor.

Spa aromatherapy

Want to relax and pamper yourself? Spa aromatherapy will not only relax you, it will leave you feeling wonderful - as though you’ve just had a holiday.

Some of the other numerous day spa aromatherapy treatments that are available include using aromatherapy in the spa or in a fragrance dispenser while a person is getting some of the other services done that a day spa is able to provide.

Day spas are able to provide you with spa aromatherapy treatments that you would not be able to have at home, even though you may have a spa. This is because these spas have special aromatherapy dispensers built into them, which is where the fragranced beads are placed. You should know that this is important for 2 reasons: First, if you immerse your aromatherapy beads into the water, they will quickly lose their fragrance. Secondly, loose beads can get stuck in your spa’s air injectors or jets.

Of course, if you are not worried about using beads and simply want a spa aromatherapy treatment, then there are some elixirs that you can purchase. These are specifically designed for spa aromatherapy and can be added directly to the water. You should know that these liquid elixirs are made from a blend of moisturizing botanicals and aloe vera. They will offer you the same fragrance as the aromatherapy beads will off you.

Regardless of whether you use crystals or an elixir, you should know that one of the benefits to using spa aromatherapy is that it will cover up the chlorine and bromine odors that some people find very irritating whenever they are trying to relax in the spa.

Usually your spa will have a great variety of aromatherapy fragrances that you can choose from. They should also be able to recommend one to you based upon the results you are looking to achieve (i.e. if you need to be rejuvenated or if you need to relax).
